Plural Nouns

In Serbian, there are several rules for making a word plural. The specific rule depends on the declension class of the noun. Here are the general rules for each declension class:

Masculine declension:

If the noun ends in a consonant, add -i to form the plural. Examples: pas (dog) - psi (dogs), sat (clock) - sati (clocks)

Feminine declension:

If the noun ends in -a, replace -a with -e to form the plural. Example: knjiga (book) - knjige (books)

Neuter declension:

If the noun ends in -o, replace -o with -a to form the plural. Example: pismo (letter) - pisma (letters)

Note that there are some irregular plural forms in Serbian, particularly for words borrowed from other languages.
